Social
Contribution
As an optional service, which you may or may not want to
participate in while studying Spanish or touring Michoacan,
we have thought of something we believe can truly make a
difference in Mexico.
Surprisingly small amounts of money can make a substantial
difference in people’s lives.
We believe that one of the main reasons why Mexicans migrate
abroad and mainly to the United States is the lack of jobs
or resources to develop a profitable business.

| |
|
The
migration of Michoacan inhabitants to the United States during the
late 20th and early 21st centuries has been extensive. The migration
is primarily economically driven, with most migrants providing
financial support to their families in Mexico by sending money back
home.
We have looked for people from low economic level and prone to
migrate with ideas to start a business but with no resources to do
it and without the possibility to get a loan from a traditional bank.
The idea is to match a visitor with a person wishing to start a
business; having them meet in person and have a conversation about
the family situation and the business idea, then the visitor would
make a one time “gift” - of 100USD to the person in Mexico to start
his/her business and help his/her family be financially secure and
avoid illegally migrating to the United States facing all the
dangers that usually await them.
The visitor would get weekly or monthly reports on how the money is
being used by the people who received it and how the business is
going, as well as pictures of the family and the business.
We feel proud to offer this service at no charge to anybody.
* Other social and volunteer opportunities available.
